Rachel remedial lomilomi massage serves to alleviate remedial issues and support general relaxation as we move through different phases of life, including stressful times, pregnancy, post partum, menopause, maturing bodies, lifestyle maintenance, physical and emotional aches and pains. The duration of a Lomi lomi normally lasts for up to two hours. The longer the better. Spot Remedial treatment is also available.

Lomilomi is traditionally offered as a longer session because its purpose goes beyond treating isolated areas of tension. This style of massage works with the whole body, the nervous system, and the natural rhythms within you, and that depth of work simply can’t be rushed.

The extended duration allows time for your body to settle, soften, and feel safe. In the first part of a session, the nervous system begins to downshift from “doing” into “receiving.” Only once this sense of calm is established can deeper layers of tension, holding, and restriction begin to release — often without force.

Long, flowing movements require time to create continuity and integration throughout the body. Rather than jumping quickly from one area to another, lomilomi encourages a sense of connection, balance, and alignment, supporting both physical ease and emotional regulation.

A longer session also honours that many people carry chronic stress and long-held patterns. Allowing enough time means your body doesn’t need to hurry or protect itself — it can fully respond, restore, and integrate the work.

In essence, lomilomi is longer because it is intentional, nurturing, and holistic. It offers space for your body to exhale, recalibrate, and return to its natural state of calm and vitality — something that simply isn’t possible in a standard, shorter massage.

What to expect from Rachel’s Huna lomilomi.

  • Each session may include remedial hot and cold stones, vibrational kinesiology, trigger point therapy, passive stretches, or it may not. The pressure can be light or deep or a combination. It is catered to you on the day.

  • Expect flowing, rhythmic strokes continuous movements that feel like waves of the ocean. This is balances with deeper work if required. This rhythm invites the body back into natural flow. It may be both relaxing and remedial.

  • Unlike structured massage styles, Lomi Lomi is intuitive. Rachel works with the body, listening and responding rather than following a fixed routine.

  • Often performed with the forearms and hands (and if deeper massage is needed, with feet)

  • The nurturing movements creates a deep sense of safety, relaxation, and surrender, allowing the nervous system to fully let go.

  • Because the lomilomi massage works so deeply with the nervous system, it may also gently release stored emotions. This is seen as a welcome part of the healing process.

  • The session will start with a “check in chat” where we will talk about what you need and your health history. As a qualified remedial massage therapist great care is taken to ensure your optimal wellbeing.

Huna lomi lomi Massage with Vibrational kinesiology - Sound Healing

The addition of tuning forks brings a subtle vibrational therapy that works on a cellular level. These forks are gently placed on or near the body, helping to clear energetic blockages and recalibrate the nervous system. The pure tones resonate through the tissues, enhancing relaxation, grounding the mind, and amplifying the healing intention of the massage. Note tuning forks and sound bowls are not part of the traditional Hawaiian huna healing, although they did use sound for healing in different ways.

Together, the sacred touch of Lomi Lomi and the healing frequencies of sound create a deeply restorative journey—one that balances body, mind, and spirit, and reconnects you with your inner harmony.

As with any form of healing therapy, it is important to allow enought time for yourself after the session to relax, unwind and process your experience. Please request this as an addition to your huna lomilomi if you wish.
